Federation passthrough config (DP-11, #256,
routes[].graphql.federation).
When passthrough is true, the gateway:
- Preserves Apollo federation headers on the proxied request
(
Apollo-Require-Preflight,x-apollo-operation-name,graphql-preflight,x-apollo-operation-id). - Allows federation introspection queries (
_service { sdl },__schema,__type) to bypass depth and complexity checks. - Still applies persisted-query enforcement if configured.
This is passthrough mode: the gateway does NOT implement query planning or subgraph stitching. It proxies to a single upstream that is expected to be either a federation router (subgraph-aware) or a single subgraph.
